JS Icon Local Storage Way Better Than Cookies
Web authors use to create "cookies" inorder to store data locally. Cookies required a trip through the server and were limited in size to 4K. Modern browsers have the capability to store 5M+ of data locally on the client's computer without getting the server involved. Called Web Storage, or Local Storage, the data is still stored exclusively in character format, like in the old cookie days. The data is stored in key/value pairs and a web page can only access data that was stored by itself. This web site uses local storage to remember the choice of gradient color and background image selected in the user's preferences.
